2022 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program – Due Oct 22

The NSF GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution.

Eligibility: You are eligible to apply for an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship if you:

  • Are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident alien; and
  • Are a graduating senior, or have completed a B.A./B.S. degree, or are in the first year or the first semester of the second year in graduate school at the time of the application deadline; and
  • Did not previously apply to NSF GRFP as a graduate student*; and
  • Are pursuing a research-based master’s or doctoral degree in GRFP-supported disciplines, including: chemistry, computer and information science and engineering, engineering, geosciences, life sciences, mathematics, physics and anatomy, psychology, social sciences and STEM education.
  • Applicants who have completed more than twelve months of graduate study may be considered eligible if they have had an interruption in graduate study of at least two consecutive years prior to August of the year they are applying. To be eligible, applicants must not have attended graduate school for two years prior to August 1 of the year applying. Applicants also cannot be entering a graduate program in the fall of the year they are applying to the NSF GRFP. A statement describing the extenuating circumstance is required in the application.

SoPS NSF GRFP Workshop – Aug 10

The School of Physical Sciences is holding a NSF GRFP workshop on August 10, Tuesday, 1 – 2 pm focused on advice for writing and developing a competitive proposal application.

This workshop will be designed to augment the resources provided to you by Graduate Division (please see the event page for details and registration for Graduate Division’s workshops).

School of Physical Sciences NSF GRFP Workshop

Mike Gallo, Director of Research Development in the Office of Research, is holding an NSF GRFP workshop, open to Physical Sciences students, on Tuesday, September 8 at 11am. This will be a general workshop that provides an overview of the GRFP, with tips for each section of the application. Check your email for Zoom info.

All GRFP eligible students, including first-year students, are encouraged to attend.
