In its 5th year, the Diversity & Student Empowerment Program (SEP) is designed in collaboration with students, faculty and staff to provide a space where students can connect across differences, learn from each other about both their different and common perceptions and campus experiences, and work together to positively impact UCI’s campus climate. Students will work to address issues of diversity and campus climate through the development, proposal, and implementation of student-led projects (research, policy, or programming). SEP is a year-long program and is open to any student at UCI
If selected, you will earn 2 – 4 units of upper-division course credit while participating with a diverse group of peers to learn about diverse perceptions and experiences. Topics covered will include: race, gender, sexual identity, disability, citizenship, religion, and more.
You will collaborate to develop and implement a project of your choice (either research, policy or programming) intended to improve diverse relations and campus climate at UCI.
Class meeting time will be Wednesdays 3:00 – 5pm, beginning Winter quarter and continuing through Spring quarter.Independent project implementation will begin in summer or fall.
