Welcome to New CHP Students & Welcome Back to Continuing CHP Students!
Attention sophomores and juniors!
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship—the most prestigious undergraduate scholarship in the U.S. in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering—is now accepting applications for its 2019 competition (pre-application is due October 30th, 2018 at NOON). UCI may nominate up to 4 students for the national competition. To begin your application and be considered for campus nomination, go to the SOP website at scholars.uci.edu/advising to complete the PSWI form and book an appointment with a Student Advisor.
Scholarship Opportunities Program: If you are interested in one-on-one advising for any of our other scholarships, you can book an appointment to meet with any of our Student Advisors at scholars.uci.edu/advising. Our office is open Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM–4:00 pm in the Writing Center in the Science Library. Or you can also talk with a student advisor without an appointment during the following Fall 2018 drop-in hours:
- Darren De Leon (Week 1-10): Wednesdays, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Jeremy Bunda (Week 4-10): Mondays, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- Kimberly Zhang (Week 4-10): Fridays, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Are YOU interested in learning about how to obtain a 1-year Masters degree in the UK? The University of Warwick’s Regional Officer, Sarah Jamieson, will be hosting a workshop on October 10 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Writing Center, located on the 1st floor of the Science Library. This workshop is designed to enhance your awareness of key aspects of studying in the UK and provide you with valuable information sources to enable you to more efficiently identify suitable courses and institutions . Sarah Jamieson previously worked as a Higher Education Policy Adviser at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Prior to that, Sarah spent 7 years supporting international applicants to the University of Reading and the University of East Anglia.
