INTERESTED In a PHD and two paid summer programs at different UCs?
The UCI Graduate Division is currently in the process of recruiting our next cohort of UC LEADS Scholars. The UC LEADS program offers sophomores (or juniors planning to stay five years) an opportunity to conduct two years of faculty mentored research. UC LEADS is designed to identify educationally or economically disadvantaged undergraduates pursuing courses of study in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics who are likely to succeed in graduate school. The program provides scholars with educational experience that prepares them to assume positions of leadership in industry, government, public service, and academia following the completion of a doctoral degree.
UC LEADS consists of two summer research programs; the first is conducted at UCI and the second at another UC campus. Housing and transportation costs are covered and the scholar will receive a summer stipend of $4,000. Scholars will also present their research at the annual UC LEADS Symposium which is held every spring. In addition to the summer program, scholars also participate in a workshop series designed to prepare them to apply for graduate school, and meet twice monthly with the UC LEADS Coordinator. Funds are also available to help cover travel expenses to a professional conference and campus visits to other UC’s.
