Stay-Over Activities in Arroyo Vista, House 1012 (April 10)

There will be activities hosted in Arroyo Vista, House 1012 for this week’s stay-over night, Thursday, April 10th.

Activities will begin at 7:30 PM. No one is required to attend, but if you are looking for something to do with your guest, bring them to this!

Approximate Timeline:

6:00-7:30 Dinner at Mesa or Pippin

7:30 Activities in House 1012 begin

8:30 Basketball or Dodgeball

*Optional Campus Tour for those interested

Board games, potential trip to University Center

If you are coming from on-campus, you can ride the campus shuttles! The green main campus leaves Mesa at 7:12 and 7:37, arriving at California and Arroyo at 7:20 and 7:45, respectively. There should be enough people to drive you back to your dorm afterwards, so don’t worry!

Coffee Hour in Professor McWilliams’ Physics Lab THIS FRIDAY – 4/11

This week’s coffee hour will be in its regular location in The Locus. But next week (Friday, April 11) it is being temporarily transplanted to Prof. McWilliams’ Lab in Frederick Reines Hall (across from Physical Science Lecture Hall and Rowland Hall). It can be easily accessed via the loading dock on the left of FRH (approaching from Aldrich Park). Please refer to this map for specific directions. For those hosting stay-over guests on the 11th, please bring them to this unique Coffee Hour!

Officer Elections for the 2008-2009 CHSC Executive Council

Eligibility:

You must have attended at least 3 CHSC meetings by the Spring Quarter, Week 5 meeting (Week 5 meeting does count towards your 3)*. Nominees for CHSC President must be a Junior or Senior (according to yr. in school) during the 08-09 academic year. Any RAs/HAs/PAAs for the 08-09 school year cannot run for President or Social Chair; and must speak with the Advisor (Ryan) if interested in another position.

All other positions can be held by anyone who meets the aforementioned meeting attendance criteria. Self-nominations are permitted and encouraged. You can also run for multiple positions.

Timeline:

Officer Nominations: Begin Wed, Week 3, April 16 during CHSC in the Locus @ 5pm

Officer Nominations DUE by Wed, Week 4, April 23 at 5pm to VP Danni Menard (dmenard@uci.edu)

Officer Elections: Week 5, Wed, April 30 during CHSC, 5pm

¨ All Nominees are required to make a 1-2 minute presentation during the election meeting

NEW VOTING PROCEDURES: In addition to voting at the elections meeting, you may also vote via paper absentee ballot in the Honors Office starting Thursday, May 1st.

Absentee Voting Ends on Friday, May 9 at 5 PM.

Results announced at the Week 7 CHSC Meeting, May 14.

ADDITIONAL MALE STAYOVER HOSTS STILL NEEDED FOR

THURSDAY, APRIL 10th

We don’t want to have to turn away any guests – we need your help to host these last few remaining prospective students!

FAQ for StayOver Hosts:

– All Hosts get a free t-shirt and meal card (if you don’t have a meal plan) to use with your guest at the commons

– Applications are available in the Honors Office, online, or from a CHP HA/RA

– There will be organized activities in Mesa Court on April 3rd and AV on April 10th, so you don’t have to entertain your guest all by yourself the entire time!

– You don’t have to live in an honors house/hall to host; if you live anywhere in Mesa Court, Middle Earth, or Arroyo Vista, you are welcome and encouraged to host!

– Even if you have a late class like a lab, you can have a friend or another stay-over host meet and pick-up your guest for you and then join them when you’re done!

– Even non-CHP students living in an honors hall/house can host!

– You can host 2 guests on the same night if you want! Indicate on your application is you are willing to host multiple guests on the same night.

Things to do with your guest:

– Visit the ARC

– Take them to the University Center

– Tour the Campus

– Visit the other honors freshman hall(s) (depending on where you’re living)

– Take them to class with you

– Bring them to Coffee Hour the next morning
