Honors Advisor Theresa Nguyen would like to invite you to join her in attending the Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow Lecture presented by Pulitzer-prize winning writer Colson Whitehead. Before the lecture, join Theresa in a short discussion of The Underground Railroad!
Whitehead’s most recent novel The Underground Railroad, is the winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. He has received a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship and has written novels about zombies in post-apocalyptic New York, intrigue among elevator inspectors, and American folk heroes.

Save the Date! Battle of the Brains on Monday, May 14th
Once upon a time, a CHP tradition was created to test the knowledge and wits of students and faculty. Year after year, they would compete to see who really knows their trivia, and this year, the Campuswide Honors Student Council invites you once again to CHP’s FREE annual Battle of the Brains. Join us on a magical adventure down the rabbit hole with your friends to the Crystal Cove Auditorium (Student Center) on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7pm and witness raffles, skits, and a spellbinding trivia competition between the wise professors, cunning students, and clever alumni. Attention CHP Transfer Students: Transfer Spring Advising Workshop!
First year Transfer Students: Come to the Spring Advising Workshop on Monday, April 23rd from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in Student Services II, room 1010. **Attendance is mandatory for honors transfer students admitted to the CHP via application during Winter 2018.** (Attendance is optional for all other first-year transfer student.)
The workshop will focus on preparing for post-graduation, covering topics such as applying to graduate and professional schools, preparing for the job search, and getting involved in the CHP. Light snacks will be served. Please RSVP and complete the topic survey by Wednesday, April 18th.
Continuing Transfer Students: We need you to volunteer for this spring’s Transfer Advising Workshop! First-year transfer students will appreciate hearing your experiences and get insight into preparing for post-graduation as well as getting involved in the CHP and at UCI. Volunteers are needed to chat and answer questions during the opening Q&A session: 4:30-5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23rd.
