In 2006-2007, new change of major criteria for Public Health Sciences and Psychology & Social Behavior were approved. The alternative requirements will expire in Spring 2008. For students wishing to change major into either Public Health Science or Psychology and Social Behavior under the alternative requirements, you must complete the coursework and meet the GPA requirements by the end of Winter 2008, otherwise students will need to meet the “current requirements”. The criteria are included below.
Public Health Sciences (B.S.)
Alternative requirements that remain in effect until April 5, 2008. Students will need to meet these requirements as of the end of Winter 2008.: Completion of Public Health lower-division courses, PH-1 and PH-2 with a grade of “C” or better in each and a minimum UC GPA of 2.0.
Current requirements: Minimum UC GPA of 2.0; Course grades – completion of Public Health 1 and/or Public Health 2 with no grade below “C”. Completion of Chemistry 1A and one additional lower-division mathematics or science course required for the major with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (selected from Chemistry 1B, 1C; 51B, 51C; Biological Sciences 93, 94, 97, 98, 99; Mathematics 2A-B; Mathematics 7, or Biological Sciences 7). An average 2.0 grade point average in any additional required courses completed for the major.
Psychology and Social Behavior (B.A.)
Alternative requirement that remains in effect until May 3, 2008. Students will need to meet these requirements as of the end of Winter 2008. Completion of Psych P9 and one additional lower-division Social Ecology core course (C7, E8, SE10, SE13) with a grade of “C” or better in each and a minimum 2.80 GPA,
Current requirements: Minimum UC GPA of 2.0; Course grades GPA of 2.80 in Psy Beh P11A,B,C or Psych 9A,B,C
