Escher and the Droste Effect
Don’t miss *Escher and the Droste Effect* on Jan. 9th, 4-5 p.m. at the Calit2 Auditorium with Dr. Hendrik Lenstra. This free lecture is open to the public and will be followed by a reception. Click here to RSVP by Jan. 7th.
Dr. Lenstra will share how he unraveled the mystery of Escher’s “Print Gallery.” No one knows why artist M.C. Escher left the center of his 1956 lithograph blank. However, in 2002 a team of mathematicians, artists, and computer programmers headed by Dr. Lenstra figured out how it may have been completed. For more information or if you have problems registering online, please email Tatiana Arizaga at tarizaga@uci.edu.
