I grew up in New Zealand, and throughout my youth I have been fascinated with sustainable efforts in design, agriculture, and conservation. I spent a good part of my teenage years working in horticulture and maintaining a desire to work in architecture so as to combat urban sprawl. Now, in my last year as an English major, I am still committed to the cause of sustainable living nonetheless. In my time at UCI I’ve been involved in campus organization leadership, Student Affairs, and now Student Housing as a Resident Advisor in Mesa Court. I’m looking forward to connecting with the local people of Costa Rica and hopefully coming to a greater understanding of the way in which their culture and society inform their approach to sustainability.
