  1. A Title and Explanation:Print
  • “Conservation through Creation” The concept of bringing awareness to climate change through the combination of art and earth system science is implemented by the idea of letting a section of grass at UCI return to its natural state. This approach is a way to visualize the transition from a simulated environment to an indigenous environment through the act of reversal.
  • Find more information about Ecological Art or “Eco Art” on the website.
  1. Numbers (To Be Updated Weekly) that represent the site:
  • Amount of Precipitation Received in space: 0 gallons
  • Amount of Water (used before the irrigation was shut off, the water being saved): 5.040 gallons per week

  1. What the Audience can do to get involved:Print
  • Spreading the news about this project: Tell friends and family about the UCI project. Using a specific hashtag the audience will be sent to the official site and other organizations such as SaveOurWater and TurfBusters. The audience will be encouraged to take pictures of this artwork and say how they feel in context of the work.
  • Conserve Water: Make Brown the new Green! Imagine all lawns and turf statewide brown instead of green. Imagine how much water could be saved by that simple change. UCI uses reclaimed water on campus landscaping this is huge in saving the scarce resource of potable water.
  • New Perspectives: How has looking at climate change from an artistic point of view influenced your awareness? Post your opinion and a picture of this on any social media platform with the hashtag: #cthroughc
