Catherine Fisk is the Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the School of Law, University of California, Irvine. Professor Fisk is the author of a legal history of employee-generated intellectual property, Working Knowledge: Employee Innovation and the Rise of Corporate Intellectual Property, 1800-1930 (University of North Carolina Press 2009).
She is working on two books: one on attribution of authorship in mid-twentieth century advertising and in film and television writing and another on the legal and institutional norms of authorship in contemporary television writing. She has also published articles on the history of screen credit and residuals in Hollywood.
