In my last post, I introduced the image archive, with some preliminary steps on how to use it. In this article, I will give a quick run through on how to add images to the archive through the web browser.
There are two ways to add an image asset to the archive: 1) by uploading an image or images directly to the archive as individual entities, or 2) creating a group or editing a group, and uploading the images directly into chosen group. Let’s start with directly uploading image assets.
From the administrator’s home page, select the button below the image tile list (figure 1). Once you are on the image upload page, you are presented with field with two buttons, Select… and Cancel (figure 2). Click the Select… button, and you will be prompted with a file prompt of files on your desktop (please, keep in mind the image archive only supports TIFF or JPEG image types). Select either one file to multiple files, and select Open or OK. This will begin the upload process, at which time you will see each file’s progress. Once all files have been successfully uploaded to the archive, you will be redirected to the administrator’s home page, where you will find your newly uploaded files at the beginning of the tile list.
The interface is the same for uploading to a group, the strategy is different. The first step you should take is either select an existing group from the administrator’s home page, or create a new one. To create a new group, there is a text field below the tile list of groups, called New Group. Simply enter the title of your new group, and click Add. Once the new group is created, it will appear in the list, so that you may go ahead and select that tile, in order to go to that group and begin the image asset upload process. Once on the group’s view page, on the right-hand side is a collapsible menu of items. The fourth item down, Add Images (figure 3), is the item you should select for uploading images to the current group. Apply the same instructions as you used for a direct image asset upload, and all images will be uploaded to the archive, and associated with this group.
I hope this was helpful. Please, do not hesitate to ask me any questions regarding uploading image assets to the image archive.
