Dr. Daibin Zhong is an associate project scientist currently working at the Yan Lab in the Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine. He has an extensive background in biology and more than 20 years of experience with the application of genetic and molecular biological techniques to the study of evolutionary biology, population genetics, vector-borne disease epidemiology and vector biology.

Dr. Zhong received his Ph. D. of Plant Genetics and Breeding at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing and his M.S. for Plant Genetics and Breeding and B.S. of Agronomy at the Southwest Agricultural University in China. He has worked in multiple countries, including China and the Philippines, and previously worked at the State University of New York, Buffalo as a research scientist.

Currently, Dr. Zhong’s research interests are to investigate vector biology and the mechanism of insecticide resistance of malaria vectors in Southeast Asia, the impact of environmental modifications on vector ecology and transmission of Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa, and field trial of novel vector control methods for malaria prevention and control.
