I was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. Throughout high school, I really enjoyed chemistry and engineering, so I decided to get a degree in Chemical Engineering. For my undergraduate degree, I also wanted to go somewhere new, so I moved far away to the University of Idaho. There, I received two degrees: Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. I took a tissue engineering class at the end of my senior year in Undergraduate, and I was hooked! At this university, I also found my spouse who continued on into serving his country in the military. So, after we both graduated, I followed him around the country. Our first destination was New Mexico where I decided to pursue my interest in Biomedical Engineering. I worked with Dr. Christina Salas and Dr. Matthew Rush generating additive manufactured bone-ligament-bone scaffolds. Once I graduated, we moved to Dayton, OH where I worked as an administrative assistant for an accounting firm and a ballroom dance studio. Then, we moved to Los Angeles! Outside my work in the lab, I volunteer as a spouse representative in the military, knit/crochet, sew, bake/cook, volunteer for Women in STEM events, and volunteer at the local library.
