Dear colleagues,
We strongly condemn the incidence of hate and violence against Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the US. Though anti-Asian racism dates back to the late 1800’s, this latest wave of anti-Asian violence, including the senseless murders of innocent victims in metropolitan Atlanta last week, is a reminder that racism and white supremacy is a common adversary — one that stands against our morals and values, and one must be fought on all fronts.
We must all continue to take a stand and speak out loudly and clearly against all forms of racism and discrimination. We must commit to supporting all of our faculty, staff, and students who may be marginalized due to their race, color, beliefs, or any aspect of their identity. We must live the principles ofantiracism in every aspect of our work.
Today, we need each other more than ever. We need to connect with each other, support each other, talk, listen and understand the political and historical context of racism and white supremacy and their impact on all marginalized groups. We must create safe and inclusive spaces for those who are traumatized by recent events to share their feelings, perspectives and experiences.
We would like to share with you information about three upcoming spaces that are hosted by our colleagues to share and reflect: |
