AM session – Keynote Speaker Mahzarin Banaji, Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics, Harvard University Department of Psychology
A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, her work with colleague Anthony Greenwald led to the best-seller Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People and coined the term “implicit bias.” She joins us at UCI to examine her pioneering empirical work about the surprising ways that we make errors when assessing others during recruitment and hiring, onboarding and promoting, leading teams and in other activities on behalf of our clients or the public we serve.

An expert in the fields of mentoring, diversity, and positive relationships at work, her research examines the impact of high quality mentoring in organizations and the effectiveness of diversity training and education. She joins us at UCI to discuss “From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary: Developing High Quality Mentoring in Diverse Academic Settings.”
