Dear campus community,
Chancellor Howard Gillman, former Ambassador-at-Large Rabbi David Saperstein and Vice President of the Anti-Defamation League’s Center on Extremism Oren Segal are among the luminaries from education, government, media, law, religion and other sectors who will share strategies to counter the rising tide of antisemitism and intolerance. UCI students, staff and faculty are invited to join the forum, Driving Out Darkness: Orange County Summit on Antisemitism and Hate, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, at the UCI Student Center Pacific Ballrooms.
Tickets at $40 per person are available at: https://jewishoc.ticketspice.com/driving-out-darkness.
This immersive learning experience is designed for leaders from all areas and provides opportunities for collaboration, discussion and training. Space is limited and continental breakfast and lunch are included.
The Driving Out Darkness summit is presented by the Jewish Federation of Orange County’s Rose Project, in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League, UCI Center for Jewish Studies, Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot, and the UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence, and several ally partners. It underscores the growth of the UCI Center for Jewish Studies from its founding in 2017 to its recent recognition by Susan and Henry Samueli with a $4 million matching gift.
