Dear campus community,
UCI students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to the Inclusive Excellence Forum at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
This year’s forum will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Shirley Malcom, a distinguished scholar and director of the STEMM Equity Achievement (SEA) Change Program at the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The forum serves as an annual review of the UCI action plan for inclusive excellence. This year’s event also will feature a session to promote more equitable considerations of scholarship in higher education. The session will be presented by Michael Yassa, director, Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory and professor, neurobiology and behavior.
The forum is offered online via zoom.
RSVP is required and program details are located at: https://uciadvance.wufoo.com/forms/raniyfu1q5dc2d/.
At last year’s forum, Dr. Malcom helped to launch discussions about UCI SEA Change – the initiative aligned to the AAAS program, which aims to create more inclusive learning and work environments in the academy. She returns this year to highlight practices and strategies to consider: “Are We There Yet? Progressing Toward Silver and Gold.” UCI has been recognized with a Bronze SEA Change Award by AAAS and the campus will be re-reviewed in five years for additional merits.
This event is hosted by the Office of Inclusive Excellence and additional details will be posted online at: https://inclusion.uci.edu/.
