This is the first time the Energy Invitational has been held on the UC Irvine Campus. A section of E. Peltason Dr. was barricaded for the vehicles to run. The up-hill section was a challenge for all of the teams. It was a outstanding event. We hope to continue the event at UC Irvine as long as they will have us.

Planning the California Challenge for Fall 2014
In order to support Southern California collegiate race teams we are working toward a Fall California Challenge (UCI Energy Invitational) at either the OC Great Park or the OC Fairgrounds. The target date is in the week of November 10-15, 2014, so it fits between the SoCal SAE sponsored FSAE Workshop at the end of October and the FSAE displays at the LA Auto Show at the end of November, creating a sequence of events to help local race teams. Race teams with new members can experience racing with existing 2014 race car while working on their 2015 design.

The 2014 Energy Invitational will be at Adams Motorsports Park, 5292 24th St, Riverside, CA 92509 on Saturday, May 10. One dollar of energy, one hour on the track, best distance and time wins!

Here is a rough cut of a video of the 2012 UCI Energy Invitational.
The 2012 UCI Energy Invitational was held at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, CA. The competition included collegiate teams from UCI, CSULA, UCLA, and Cal Poly Pomona, together with High School race teams from Tustin, Foothill, Esperanza, Pacifica, Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach High Schools as well as two inventor vehicles. The event is a time trial using $1.00 of energy to go a maximum distance in one hour.
