The World of the Higgs – A Talk by Dennis Silverman

I am giving talks called The World of the Higgs to two groups, one at OLLI Cal State University Fullerton on Oct. 10 at 12:30 PM, and the next at OLLI UC Irvine, on Oct. 11 at 1 PM.  The link above takes you to the pdf of the talks.

The lecture covers the experiments discovering the Higgs, and the theory behind the Higgs at a few advancing levels (but without math).  It also covers the US particle physics contributions to the Higgs work at the LHC and US funding, and the benefits of particle physics education and technology.

About Dennis SILVERMAN

I am a retired Professor of Physics and Astronomy at U C Irvine. For two decades I have been active in learning about energy and the environment, and in reporting on those topics for a decade. For the last four years I have added science policy. Lately, I have been reporting on the Covid-19 pandemic of our times.
