June 7 Evening Update on the California 48th District Primary

This is the 5 PM Orange County Registrar of Voters Thursday June 7 report for the 48th Congressional District. Democrat Hans Keirstead stretched his lead over Democrat Harley Rouda to 129 votes. Yesterday at 5 PM Keirstead’s lead was 45 votes, and earlier at 8 AM Keirstead was behind Rouda by 73 votes. You can skip the rest of the article.

Republican incumbent Representative Rohrabacher gained 876 votes to 34,074.

Keirstead gained 508 votes to 19,335.

Rouda gained 424 votes to 19,206.

Republican Scott Baugh gained 408 to 18,009.

Democrat Omar Siddiqui gained 147 to 5,459.

So the second place Republican Baugh slipped 100 points behind the Democratic leader Keirstead, and Rouda slipped 84 votes behind Keirstead. But,

Orange County Still Has an estimated 180,823 Votes To Count! That’s for the whole County, with several congressional districts. Three weeks was estimated to complete the task. They have so far counted only 14,108 after election day. That is only 7.2% of the estimated 194,931 which they had to count after election day.

In any case, any small lead between Keirstead and Harley, or perhaps even with Baugh, could be completely washed out to sea with any emerging tide of votes. In that case, I may only blog about this weekly.

There are now 59,537 Republican votes, 51,509 Democratic votes, and 112,063 total votes.  The total number of votes in CA 48 increased by 2,720 from yesterday’s 109,343, or 2.5%.

This is the June 7, 5 PM update.
