Living in Trump’s Dystopian Collapse of Democracy

It feels like we are living in a science fiction movie, where the Untouchable Chosen One daily smashes another pillar of our previous Democracy.

The savior of the Stone may not be acting out of loyalty to a friend.  Roger Stone is 67 years old.  A nine year sentence may look terminal, or at least half of a remaining lifetime.  Stone knows about his connection to Wikileaks, but he was not “ratting” Trump out, Trump said.  But if given a lighter sentence for cooperation with prosecutors in that, plus, whatever else Stone knows about Trump’s Russian affairs, and anything else, would look mighty tempting.  So Trump may be getting Stone a lighter sentence to protect himself.  Stone was convicted of seven charges of lying to Congress, threatening a witness, and even threatening his judge.  Each charge by itself deserved at least a year, or everybody would do it.  Hence a seven year minimum sentence.

Trump himself managed to pressure a foreign government to interfere in his Presidential election, to illegally withhold defense funds to an ally, to block his group from testifying to congress, to block all documents, to possibly lie in his written Mueller answers, plus 10 charges of obstruction of Congress, to block his taxes, and to get away with impeachment on abuse of office, and blocking a congressional investigation.  Not only is there no penalty to Trump, but he can operate without any restrictions now.

Trump dropping those who testified to Congress is actually freeing them of being charged later with illegal Trump acts, which the rest of Trump’s administration many be subject to.

Trump plans to dominate the news with power grabbing events, daily from now until he is ever replaced in office.  Trump not only delights in revenge, but in bugging liberals and Democrats by knocking over the bricks of Democracy, as an angry child would do.

Republicans have said nothing about the outrageous acts of these two weeks.  They still have 265 embarrassing days to go until the election.  Republican legislators don’t know what Trump wants them to say, and they are afraid to say anything that could offend their Lord of the Dings.
