How did you use this product/subscription in your course?

I purchased whiteboards for each student to perform design sketching, drafting, as well as engineering problem solving in their computer aided design class at each lecture. They took pictures on their phones of each daily submission and submitted it to canvas for participation credit.

In what ways do you feel the product/subscription supported student learning, if at all?

The product provided a means of doing physical design and drafting and engineering problems in class that can be reviewed. It also more closely resembled how they would brainstorm and design in the industry, using whiteboards to convey ideas.

What challenges, if any, did you encounter when using this product/subscription?

The whiteboards are very heavy and took a long time to get to class. It was also challenging coming up with appropriate questions and timings of how long and when to present the questions.

What advice would you give to a colleague who’s interested in using this product?

Don’t feel forced to do a whiteboard problem each lecture. Make sure you provide solutions and discuss after each problem, and make sure you don’t give too much time to answer the questions. Lots of students want you to do in class examples, so it takes away from that time. Also, I noticed some cheating where students would buy their own boards and submit whiteboard problems even though they didn’t attend the class.

Overall, would you recommend this product/subscription to other faculty?

Yes
