Introduction to Linguistics (Summer 2018). Class with emphasis on the notion that language is a remarkable achievement of the human mind. Current insights into the nature of language. Survey of various subfields of linguistics. Introduction to linguistic analysis.

Discovering Language (future Summer 2019). Explores language’s pervasiveness and diversity; demonstrates ways linguistics illuminates language’s crucial–albeit hidden–societal role. Issues: self-and group-identification, language death, language in legal and educational settings. Illustrations: spoken and signed languages, varieties of English, Native American languages.

Introduction to Linguistics: Language Acquisition (Summer 2018) This lecture gave the students

Psychology of Language: Syntactic Categories and Creating Sentences (Winter 2018) This guest lecture went over how syntax and syntactic categories are possibly acquired and used in language.

Acquisition of Language I: Language Development in Special Populations (Fall 2017, Fall 2015, Fall 2014) This guest lecture went over language acquisition in the Deaf community, autism spectrum children, Down’s Syndrome Children, and William’s Syndrome children.

Introduction to Linguistics: Introduction to Syntax (Summer 2017) This guest lecture introduced concepts of syntax and structure.

Languages of the World: Native American Languages and Language Endangerment (Winter 2017) This guest lecture talked about the history and features of Native American languages and introduced students to how languages come to be endangered and possible interventions.

Introduction to Psychology: Language (Summer 2016) This guest lectured introduced psychology students to the cognitive domain of language.

Acquisition of Language II: Syntactic Categorization (Spring 2016) This guest lecture helped upper-division students understand recent and important studies in understanding syntactic categorization and be able to solve problems in syntactic categorization.
