GEECS recently partnered with IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world’s largest technical professional organization, to organize an EE (Electrical Engineering) Specialization Panel on April 26, 2023. The event was designed to bring together leading experts and educators to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in EE education and career paths.
The panelists included:
- Shobhit Mendiratta, PhD student in the EECS department
- Nilab Ismailoglu, PhD candidate in Computer Engineering and GEECS officer
- Robert Marosi, MS/PhD student in the EECS department and GEECS president
- Hieu Le, PhD candidate in the EECS department and GEECS officer
- Hemanth Kota, PhD student in the EECS department and GEECS officer
The panelists shared their insights on various topics related to EE education and career paths, including:
- Emerging technologies and their impact on EE education and industry
- Strategies for attracting and retaining diverse students in EE programs
- Career options and opportunities for EE graduates in different sectors, such as academia, industry, and government
- Challenges and solutions for integrating interdisciplinary skills and knowledge in EE education
The event was attended by many undergraduate students from EECS/ICS department, who had the opportunity to ask questions and network with the panelists. The GEECS and IEEE expressed their appreciation for the insightful discussions and valuable connections made during the event, and look forward to organizing more collaborative events in the future.
