We are excited to share the success of the recent academic development workshop hosted by Society of Graduate Electrical Engineers & Computer Scientists (GEECS), in collaboration with WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity). The workshop, held on May 12, 2023, brought together graduate students and professors from diverse backgrounds, fostering academic growth and career development in the field of academia as well as industry.

Workshop Highlights: One of the standout features of the workshop was the presence of esteemed professors and senior Ph.D. participants who shared their valuable perspectives on careers in academia. Their expertise and experiences provided invaluable guidance to aspiring academics and researchers. Attendees had the unique opportunity to engage in discussions, gain practical insights, and receive mentorship from these accomplished individuals.

Diverse Topics Covered: The workshop covered a range of topics related to careers in academia, including navigating the academic job market, building a research portfolio, establishing collaborations, and balancing teaching and research responsibilities. The professors and senior Ph.D. participants provided valuable advice on how to succeed in academia and shared their personal journeys, offering inspiration and encouragement to attendees.

Networking and Mentoring Opportunities: In addition to the insightful presentations, the workshop facilitated networking and mentoring opportunities.
