We had the annual Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) Scientific Retreat at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach among the CFCCC cancer center members and shared resource teams, UCI clinicians, community equity board members, and postdoctoral and graduate student trainees. Gina gave a talk about “RNA modification in tumorigenesis and drug resistance”.

As a follow-up to our previous Cell paper, we have discovered a new mTORC1 downstream effector, FAM120A, which orchestrates the interplay between SREBP-dependent transcription and RNA splicing of lipogenic genes, thereby enhancing lipid synthesis in cancer cells.
