Club Founding

Healing through Humanities was established in 2012 by Monica Multani as an informal discussion section for students enrolled in Dr. Shapiro’s Directed Group Studies. In her course,

Dr. Shapiro guided students in the art of doctoring, the methodology by which future health professionals could heal patients through compassion, empathy and understanding. We at Healing through Humanities continue that tradition. The goal of our club is to cultivate compassion in future health professionals through exposure to medical practice, education, art and humanities in the hopes of furthering humanistic healthcare. We hope with the recent establishment of the Medical Humanities Minor on Campus to further that goal and to help grow the presence of the Medical Humanities on campus.
