As Wellness Ambassadors, help your colleagues engage in healthy lifestyle habits by promoting a wellness challenge locally within your department. This Wellness Challenge Toolkit provides resources to successfully develop and implement a department/unit specific wellness challenge based on the needs and interests of your co-workers.
Before planning a challenge, please confirm you have the appropriate approvals to create a wellness challenge. As you begin to plan your challenge, keep these best practices in mind:

- Keep the challenge simple by focusing on just one or two small habits for the entire challenge.
- Keep the challenge friendly, supportive and positive in communications and messaging. Avoid promoting unhealthy or overly competitive behaviors.
- If your wellness challenge has a prize, aim for one large prize to raffle to all eligible participants who meet the challenge goal. However, keep in mind that prizes valued at more than $75 are subject to taxes per the UC G-41 policy.
Expect to spend 5-10 hours planning and implementing a challenge. The time commitment will vary based on the size, complexity of the challenge, and your experience in running programs. As Wellness Ambassadors, your responsibilities will include selecting a challenge theme, setting goals, recruiting participants, and creating and distributing materials.
