Look Closely, Think Critically, Imagine Expansively
Humanities Core at UCI is a year-long program that introduces students to a variety of humanistic modes of study through a series of multi-disciplinary lectures, writing assignments, and small seminars.
The Humanities Core Podcast highlights the impact of the course on students and faculty, explores ideas related to the cycle theme, and provides a site for collaboration and conversations between individuals involved in the program. Episodes consist of conversations with current students, faculty, alumni, and distinguished guests featured in the program’s co-curricular events and Friday Forums.

The Humanities Core Podcast is produced and edited by Dr. Robin Stewart, a member of the program’s teaching faculty since 2014, whose research interests and scholarly publications focus on early modern literature and Shakespeare.
The Humanities Core Podcast website was created and designed by Humcore Intern Ariana Vargas (Class of 2025), an English and Asian American studies major. A proud Humanities Core alumna, Ariana has also served as an undergraduate intern with the Kwentuhan: Filipino Americans in Orange County and Beyond Oral History Project and as part of the 2024 Undergraduate Summer Fellowship in Digital Humanities, where she completed a research project entitled, “Transnational Perspectives: Filipino American Political Art, 1972-1986”

The Humanities Core Podcast was also developed with the aid of Humcore Intern Sammy Merabet (Class of 2024). A proud Humanities Core Alumnus and UROP Research Essay award winner, Sammy made important contributions to Humcore Podcast’s technical logistics and editorial vision.
