

Kevin Thompson, M.S. ’88
Kevin Thompson is a tech executive with a consistent track record of building and managing innovative engineering teams that consistently push great software. He has more than 20 years of software development leadership experience, including 12 years at Google.
Thompson is currently the engineering lead for Uber Marketplace, the team responsible for some of the most exciting and challenging problems at Uber – driver dispatch (which drivers gets assigned to which riders), driver positioning, pricing and incentives (on both the driver and rider side), forecasting, and more. It’s the economic brain of one of the world’s largest technology platforms.
Prior to Uber, Thompson played a variety of roles at Google, including 6 years as lead of eng for YouTube’s ad platform, innovating skippable ads. He was previously leader of YouTube’s data platform, founding site director for the Irvine office, a key player in major acquisitions including Urchin SW (now Google Analytics), and played key management roles with AdWords as well as other ads businesses.
Thompson has an M.S. from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at UCI and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
