Tony Givargis

Tony Givargis

Tony Givargis is a professor of computer science at UCI and the Chief Technology Officer at the company he co-founded in 2013, Levyx Inc., which engages in the research, design, development, testing and validation of software systems for big data processing.

He is a co-author of two popular text books on embedded software design and has published over 80 peer-reviewed conference and journal articles. He also has many issued US patents in the areas of embedded systems and systems software.

Over the years, he has supervised a number of successful Ph.D. and M.S. students and has raised millions of dollars in funding to carry out his research at UCI. As a consultant, he has provided expert reports and testimony in the first Apple vs. Samsung Electronics legal proceedings from 2011 to 2012. In recent years, his interest has focused heavily on ultra-high performance databases, emerging storage technologies and big data.

In 2011, Givargis received the prestigious American Society for Engineering Education Frederick Emmons Terman Award in recognition of his contributions to the profession.
