“Lessons learned” paper on ILD collection strategies to be presented at AAPOR conference in Denver
The American Association for Public Opinion Research will hold its annual meeting in Denver, CO from May 16-19, 2018. In a session on mobile device data collection research, Rahman, Goldberg, Koffman, and Tienda will present a paper on strategies for collecting diary data from adolescents, based on their work fielding the mDiary Study of Adolescent Relationships.

A recent article by Layland, Calhoun, Russell, and Maggs uses daily diary and longitudinal data collected from college students to examine alcohol use and alcohol-free programs on a college campus.
Evidence of initial elevation bias in subjective reports
During our January 2018 workshop on ILD, Niall Bolger discussed his recent article in PNAS. The article is based on several different data sets and finds evidence of elevated first responses. Bias in initial answers has implications for research using ILD, as well as any study using subjective reports.
Sugie publishes new article in AJS using ILD to study employment after prison
See the recent issue of American Journal of Sociology for an article on the precarious nature of employment at reentry from prison. Naomi Sugie, an Assistant Professor at UC Irvine’s Criminology, Law and Society Department, uses sequence analysis and clustering methods to analyze intensive longitudinal data collected from smartphones.
