Summary
The comparison is simply a method of showcasing all the differences between aspects of a controlled system in contrast to another. This is a useful tool for the designer to communicate their design with variable information.
- Apple to Apple; Suggests to compare identical units of things by their common measure. For example; speed of two cars that share the same type of body and engine.
- Single Context Display: Suggests that data should be presented in a singular context/display in conjunction with different data. Using a single display of data that contains many variables in comparison to other data helps viewers detect slight differences between both systems/objects/products/graphics.
- Benchmarking: Suggest to compare data/graphics/objects in relations to standards that are set previously. For example, the speed of the fastest car in comparison to fastest car ever recorded by Guinness record. Or a country’s crime rate in comparison to the standard of the world’s crime rate per capita.

Strategy: Comparison

Hi Eon! I personally LOVE comparison charts for helping me make decisions on the products and services that I consume because I think they’re a great way to make those apples-to-apples comparisons of similar attributes. This has long been a popular visual tool on the web for anything that has various editions or levels of service/pricing. Hosting companies use it to show their various plans. Software companies like Microsoft use it to show various edition differences in their software like SQL Server. And e-commerce website use it to show visitors other similar products and their differences. The following are all items I’ve recently looked into.
Hosting Plans Example: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/vps-hosting-g
Software Editions Example: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-editions
E-Commerce Products Example: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-8-Inch-Tablet-Titanium/dp/B00V49LL90/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1477092363&sr=8-3&keywords=tablet
