Archetype is the characteristics of a person. Because Archetype is believed to be mythical and through various channels of communications like movies, shows, brands, etc. we experience an Archetype, we just don’t know it because this type of experience is ‘hardwire’ in our brains.
Archetypes are found in the themes of myths (e.g., death and rebirth), characters in literature (e.b., hero and villain). (Universal Principles of Design, pg. 28)
Archetypes are believed to be unconscious patterns that have been hardwired into our brains over the course of human evolution. (“Doctordisruption, URL”).

I’ve always understood archetypes to be the most common or of-the-essence representation of something, an example of which could be the “trickster” character that is common in film, folklore and literature: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trickster
Trickster characters typically have some secret knowledge that they use to transgress social norms, often for humorous effect. A popular trickster archetype is the coyote in some Native American folk traditions.
WOW!!! Great examples! This strategy I find bring out an emotion when used correctly. I think it to be powerful and help keep users engaged in that it is they are looking at. this link is an example.

Famous objects, images and landmarks come to mind when thinking about Archetypes. Sometimes those objects and images were once actual people (the image of Chairman Mao or Che Guevara) who have come to have a different or greater meaning than they did in actual life. Sometimes it’s a landmark many have never visited, but it’s so engrained in your consciousness because of their iconic value. The Eiffel Tower is one of those landmarks.
