  1. Hi Mia,
I think your maps are successful in communicating the forces. However, I feel that Force 1 gets lost in the base map. At the first glance it is hard to see what the designer is trying to communicate, may be reducing the opacity of the base might help? Or using a brighter green for the trees might help the force stand out?

I like how you used the color coding for the traffic intensity. It is very clear and needs no explanation. Well done! Same for Human Habitation, super clear.

For the localness force, it was a bit unclear to me what the size of the circle meant. Did it mean, how large the business was?

I hope this was helpful and I look forward to seeing your final map.

  2. Mia, use of different colors to show the intensity of traffic is brilliant. This also holds for your use of circles of different sizes to show the emphasize of localness for each business. I like how you used the tree icon to show the vegetation of the area, but I think that these symbols (pine trees) are not standing out due to opacity of your base layer. At its current state it took me a while to notice the trees. I think If you change the opacity of your base layer, the items such as trees would become more visible.

  3. I love this Mia! I like how you approached each force with a different graphic style. I feel like you really captured the spirit of the exercise (or how I perceived it, anyhow).

  4. Mia, This is an excellent work!

Through your five forces map, I can understand the complexed area where mixed up businesses and houses. In particular, the localness force is remarkable insight, because it represents well the area which cultural characteristic has.

As you design this, I wonder what kind of the force you think is the most important.

Thank you for sharing fantastic work.
