I really do love the discord idea, and I think the solution discussed in the feedback session using cameras instead of in-ground censors could be a great solution to the wheelchair dilemma. I’m wondering if you used the camera idea if you could take it even further, for example, tracking repeat offenders– perhaps the more times someone is caught riding their bike or skateboard, the more discordant and grating the sounds created would be? This would not only signify to them that they’re breaking the rules more than once, but to others in the area as well to add an element of additional public shaming…although it could make for a real great harsh noise album if someone is recording as they ride ha 🙂
The musical bike path sounds really interesting. However, I was curious how it would work when there are multiple bikes on the path. How would people within hearing distance experience the sound?
A potential alternative is the use of light. Lights turn on as the bikes approach. Can be fun with different colored lights and useful at night.
