Project 3, Team 15: Robin, Q

PART 4

Project final presentation.

PART 3

Quick presentation of our proposal.

PART 2

Prompt: Take the best idea and create two different versions of the experience.

Of the ideas generated, we chose to proceed creating experiences around the community garden located in the Great Park in Irvine, California. Two competing options have been mapped out through the use of Manu’s model.

  • A festival celebrating “backyard to table” food here.
  • A cafe and picnic space surrounding the garden here.

PART 1

Prompt: Brainstorm ideas for an urban intervention at either site used in the mappings project.

Listing of our ideas here.

  1. Q and Robin,
I really like both of your ideas. I think the “backyard to table” festival is a bit stronger in terms of attraction and entry. And I think a festival like that would do a great job of attracting new visitors to the Great Park who haven’t been there before. I think you also have more room to be really creative and visual in your presentation with this idea. Both are strong though, looking forward to seeing what direction you take!

Feedback: As you move forward, you need to convert these problem solutions into experiences that people can actually engage with. What attracts at-risk youth to engage with this fitness experience? [Robin: social media, stand-up for kids (community-partnership??) What I want you to do is: how to translate the abstract problem into a simple five-stage rubric to an experience design? The two middle steps may boil down to design sphere, and opportunities to learn (e.g., homelessness, food security) a hook or a point of entry. How do you take this experience and then extend it? You are also encouraged to combine ideas 2 & 3.
