Mandatory Training for Instructors
The University of California (UC) requires all instructors to complete online trainings as part of their hiring process. As such, these trainings are mandatory for all UCI Division of Continuing Education instructors, regardless of whether you are teaching a classroom-based course or an online course. To complete these trainings, follow the directions below.
Step 1: Access the Training Site
For full functionality of the training, you must use supported browsers and turn off pop-up blockers. (The training will pop-up from the website.)
- Go to the UC Learning Center – http://uclc.uci.edu/
- Login with your UCI NetID & password
Step 2: Complete the Safety Training Self Assessment
Based upon your answers in the Self Assessment, you will be assigned specific training that you are required to complete. If you want to complete the minimum amount of required training, only select what applies to you on a continuous daily basis.
- Click “Safety Training Self-Assessment”
- Select all of the categories that describe your work:
(e.g., (a) Select “Administrative/Clerical” (b) Select “Computer Use (Frequent)”) - Click “Submit”
- Click either “Modify Selections” or “Final Submission”
- Click “UC Learning Center Home”
Step 3: Complete Your Assigned Trainings
Based upon your answers in the Self-Assessment, you will be assigned specific trainings that you are required to complete. This could include additional trainings, other than those listed below. All instructors/employees must complete the following required trainings.
- Click “Assigned Trainings” to start your trainings.
- Register and complete the trainings listed under “Assigned Trainings”
- You may track your progress by viewing the Assignment Status column
- Attended & Acquired = the training requirement is current and up-to-date
- Assigned = the training still needs to be complete

- Safety Fundamentals (formerly Core Safety)
- Ergonomics Computer and Office
- UC Cyber Security Awareness – (no selection needed during self-assessment)
- General Compliance Briefing: UC Ethical Values and Conduct – (no selection needed during self-assessment)
- UC Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention – (no selection needed during self-assessment)
