I am a Ph.D. student in the school of Sociology at the University of California Irvine. My work centers on cross-national changes in higher education, anti-vaccination networks in online spaces, and the experiences of Latine/Hispanic teaching-focused faculty in navigating the Ph.D. process.
I am a researcher on one of the National Science Foundations Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate. Our alliance is focused on creating hiring interventions for representation and equity (HIRE) with a specific eye for making hiring processes more equitable for Latine and Hispanic PhDs.
Below is a list of my current projects:
1. Pushbacks to gender/sexuality education in higher education institutions cross-nationally
2. The cultural incorporation of LGBTQ individuals into U.S. sociology textbooks from 1970-2020
3. A social network analysis of anti-vaccination advocacy networks on Twitter focusing on heterophily between anti-vaccine advocates and right-wing news organizations
4. The incorporation of equity discussions in engineering classrooms through questioning inequitable design (with Dr. Natascha Trellinger Buswell)
5. Elucidating the Transition Process of Latina/o from Ph.D. Students to Teaching Focused Faculty Positions using a Community Cultural Wealth Framework
