Facilities

UC Irvine has eight different performing venues in Proscenium, Black Box and Concert Hall configurations. The Drama Department produces six shows a year including classics, modern, original, and musicals all with an eye on diversity. The Dance Department produces four shows a year. Lighting design students design one show in drama and one in dance each year.

In addition to performance spaces DesignLand is a large space housing offices for all graduate designers complete with Computer Stations, Conference Area, 3D Printers, 2 Large Format Plotters, and a library of over 300 design books.

Lighting Inventory Information: All eight venues are stocked with ETC S4 Lekos and PARs, Fresnels, and PAR64’s. Shared inventories also include a large package of scrollers, LED PAR and cyc lights, moving lights, and other smart accessories.

Projection Information: Although we do not have a projection design program, it is possible for lighting design students to have a split emphasis in Lighting and Projection Design.  We own over 20 projectors and utilize projects on many of your produced productions in all of our theatres, along with many independent projects in the black box theatre , the xMPL.
