CURRENT RESEARCH

I am working on Dr. Žaneta Navrátilová’s project to investigate the development of a unique neural representation of a novel environment in mice. We are implementing the use of a multiphoton microscope to perform in-vivo mesoscale calcium imaging of neuronal populations in the retrosplenial cortex as a head-fixed mouse traverses a unique virtual reality environment. This project builds on the theory that a continuous, index-like representation of contextual events is relayed to the retrosplenial cortex through hippocampal projections— a mechanism that we believe may be important in the coordinated retrieval of memory.
