It’s almost November, which means it’s almost National Novel Writing Month! Have you always wanted to write a novel, but have never had the motivation to actually do it? Now’s your chance! Sign up at www.nanowrimo.org. The goal is to write 55,000 words by the end of the month of November. Once you sign up online, you can plan your plot, track your progress, and get support from other writers. By the end, you will be able to call yourself a novelist!
Bookstore Author Event!
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 19th, there will be an author series event at the UCI Bookstore at 5:00! Collier Nogues, author of On the Other Side, Blue, and Ryan Ridge, author of Hunters and Gamblers, will be at the bookstore reading from their works and answering questions.
Collier Nogues received her MFA from UCI, and is now an author and teacher in California and Oregon. Ryan Ridge is also an acclaimed author who teaches here at UCI.
Come listen to these authors tomorrow to see what it’s like to be a published author!

SCAVENGER HUNT RULES!
Hello Narlings,
It’s time to get ready for the photo scavenger hunt starting next week!
Here are the official rules:
1. Every Tuesday at 8:00AM from weeks 5-9 I will post a picture on the blog of somewhere on campus.
2. Find the spot, take a picture of you standing there, and send it to narchp@gmail.com.
3. If you send the picture of you standing at the correct spot on Tuesday, you’ll get 50 points, on Wednesday, 45 points, on Thursday, 40 points, on Friday, 35 points, on Saturday, 30 points, on Sunday, 25 points, and on Monday, 20 points. Then, on Tuesdays, I’ll post the next picture.
4. The final week of the competition, week 9, will be kind of tricky because of Thanksgiving break, so be sure to get your pictures in early that week!
5. The person with the most points by Tuesday of Week 10 (November 29th) will win!
And as for the prize…. besides widespread adoration and esteem from your fellow CHPers, your winning pictures will be posted on the NAR blog, and you will receive a $25 Barnes and Noble Gift Card! That’s right! Free books, movies, CDs, or coffee. You know you want it!
So, prepare wisely. Watch your surroundings, notice things you haven’t before, make sure your camera is ready, and let the competition begin on Tuesday!
