Research

1. Clinical skin imaging using multiphoton microscopy (MPM)

In vivo multiphoton microscopy of melanomaWe employ label-free MPM for clinical skin imaging in order to evaluate the potential of this technology to non-invasively diagnose skin diseases including skin cancer, to monitor the effects of skin treatments and to understand skin biology and functionality.

2. Technology development

We are interested in designing and developing advanced MPM imaging platforms that allow macroscopic imaging with microscopic resolution within minutes in order to enhance the effectiveness of the clinical skin imaging. Compactness and portability are key features of such an imaging platform. Read more

3. Basic research/Pre-clinical applications

The optical microscopy resources in our lab, designated for basic research and pre-clinical applications, are used by our Lab and other Principal Investigators at UCI to investigate and understand the biology of various health conditions and diseases. Our Lab is an imaging shared resource for the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Skin Biology Research Center at UCI. Read more
