Hi Colleagues,
Check out the flyer, and mark your calendars for an exciting new film series, hosted by our OC & SEAA Center! This event is co-sponsored by the Diversity Team.
The UCI Libraries Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive Center (OC & SEAA) presents a monthly film screening inviting community members to come together to view films and documentaries related to diversity issues. Each viewing will be followed by a dynamic discussion with the film curators, faculty experts, student leaders, or community activists creating a safe space for attendees to engage with various viewpoints, share thoughts, and hear the experts’ perspectives. The aim is to raise awareness of diversity issues on campus and beyond, and to use film as a platform for dialogue, education and productive inquiry and action.
Screenings for the OC & SEAA Film Series will take place on the third Thursday of every month* from 5 – 7 p.m. in the OC & SEAA Reading Room (Libraries Gateway Study Center, ground floor facing Aldrich Park). The screenings are free and open to all, but space is limited; light refreshments will be provided. Screenings are co-sponsored by the UCI Libraries Diversity Team, UCI Department of Asian American Studies, and the UCI Southeast Asian Student Association.
*Note that for January, the film screening will be on the last Thursday in order to sync up with the Southeast Asian Student Association’s Lunar New Year Celebration.
