I saw an article the other day about scales and weighing yourself, and it reminded me of how I don’t like weighing myself at the doctor’s office. It’s usually mid-day and it always higher than at home when I weigh myself first thing in the morning. It does stress me out a little. A friend of mine refuses to weigh herself, or at least tries not to as much as possible. I admire that about her.
So when you are trying to lose weight, or maintain your weight, how often should you step on that scale?
This article from My Fitness Pal says, well it depends on you. What stresses you out? If you see your number spike does this stress you out? We all know stress isn’t any good. If you weigh yourself every day there will be fluctuations up and down. Maybe a weekly weigh-in is better for you. Or maybe you’re like my friend and no scale is best.
Bottom line is there is more to being fit and healthy than a number on a scale, particularly when that number varies so much day to day or even hour to hour. Jump on that scale if you like it, but if not, don’t worry so much about it. Think of your overall health, that’s what counts.
