Libraries’ Diversity Team | Implicit Bias in the Workplace
September 21, 1:30 – 3:00 pm – LL-570 (Laudati Conference Room)
Featured guest speakers will be Dr. Negar Shekarabi, Coordinator of Faculty & Staff Mental Health Care and Respondent Services, and Raid Faraj, Senior Investigator/Diversity Educator Equal Opportunity & Diversity. Building on the Diversity Team’s introductory discussion on August 16 focusing on the implicit bias self-awareness tests, this workshop will focus on how implicit bias may impact our work in the Libraries in areas such as recruitment, teamwork, and service to our users. The workshop will help us understand what implicit bias is, how it can affect our organization, and what strategies we can take to minimize its influence. All employees are encouraged to attend, especially those who will be participating on search committees for librarians or staff.
