Apparently, we can! The Libraries’ Diversity Team just viewed a TED talk in our meeting today (see below) where presenter, Sally Kohn, defines and shares her approach on the culture of hate in our society. We thought it was a pretty good watch, so we’re sharing it with you.
Done watching? Next, sound-off in the comments about what struck you most. Did it help you determine a personal strategy for doing something about hate?
great talk- it is so true that sometimes perhaps that voice in the head of a person who may be bullying they may quickly echo out without really much thought about what the person is actually saying and doing.
Or maybe it’s that the person bullying isn’t aware of how they may be conditioned to see the person they are bullying? Not sure if it’s that the bully doesn’t know what they’re doing, but more that the bully isn’t aware of the impact or isn’t socialized to care that much about the level of impact. What do you think?
I think possibly this is the link ?: https://www.ted.com/talks/sally_kohn_what_we_can_do_about_the_culture_of_hate
Thanks, Ted! Did the video not pull up before? That is the correct link. 🙂
