BASIC NEEDS ADVOCATE
|
A very timely workshop will be conducted for UCI staff and faculty on October 17 at 9:00 am – 12:00 pm addressing food insecurity among UCI students. It would be great if UCI Libraries were represented in this workshop. Attendance is free and includes lunch! RSVP: bit.ly/BasicNeedsAdvocate. Please consider attending. Below is the invitation from Student Affairs.
When students’ most basic needs are not met, it’s hard for them to function, let alone learn. The university’s latest student-experience surveys show that 44% of undergraduates and 25% of graduate students across UC campuses have reported experiencing “food insecurity.” Furthermore, 5-8% of all students have experienced homelessness at some point during their time at a UC.Join this training to learn about basic needs research, our UC systemwide efforts and statistics, and the campus resources available to support our students thrive at UCI.
