Hi everyone.
I was watching the ACRL webinar, titled “Pandemic Pedagogy: Resources for Library Instruction at a Distance”, and they gave out some great resources for teaching online, presenting online exhibits as well sharing mental health tips and coping mechanisms. The presenter, Jenn Kelly was kind enough to allow a good chunk of time for participants to add some of their own coping methods.
One of the suggestions was the Calm.com app which includes loads of easy and short meditations, yoga exercises, soundscapes and soothing music. There is even a section dedicated to kids!
The lovely message from their app-
“Without a doubt, many of us are feeling anxious as we navigate the uncertainty of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We’re feeling it too, and we wanted to share some of the tools we’re using to take care of our minds and stay grounded.
All of the resources on this page are free of charge — please share with anyone who might benefit.
Enjoy this curation of meditations, sleep stories, music and more, all hand-picked to support your mental and emotional wellness through this time. And check back soon as we’ll be updating these resources regularly.”
Three sections me and my husband like:
- Soothing Meditations-my favorite is Worry with Tamara Levitt
- Calm Music- his favorite is Lunar Lullaby
- 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Exercise- we do this exercise together on especially stressful days
Here is the April Daily Calm Calendar with ways to add calming moments to your day.
Stay CALM and carry on!
